![]() We also take in many children from other orphanages on a temporary basis so they can get the proper attention they need. We have nurses and plenty of "madams" (like nannies) who look after the children's needs on a daily basis (see our family). Also, we have a growing group of young adults, many who have grown up in our orphanage, who help a lot with the care and development of the children. We also have school right at our 2 houses, with teachers who come to teach the different age groups. The most central part of our work in Haiti is rescuing children. We are especially minded to provide for those with the most urgent need - the very sick, the orphaned, and abandoned. Yet we also have room and ability to help children who are suffering from the widespread poverty which devours the resources of the families, the government and the land. Unfortunately, in Haiti, these effects are widespread, causing many loving parents to find themselves unable to provide even the most basic needs such as nourishment and shelter. The children that we take in come to us from many places and circumstances. Sometimes we learn of a gravely ill child during our food distributions, other times, sadly, they have been abandoned at our doorstep or in a neighboring area, and occasionally they come through referrals by friends or people who work with us. Currently there are around 175 children between our 2 very large houses (a slightly fluctuating number - as some become well and have families able to care for them). They range in age from infant to young adult. You can see the relief begin to show on their faces after only a short time being with us. ![]() A group of children arriving from a smaller orphanage in Croix-des-bouquets... ![]() ![]() ![]()
